Let me introduce myself, I am Phil Masterson, a former assistant football coach with one of the top college football programs in America.  First and foremost, I know 2 things: sports and gambling.  I've been on the bus for 18 straight hours riding cross country with the players and I know the effect that unique situations have on the human mind and body.  I also know many people in the industry that have VALUABLE information.  I have a friend in Chicago who can walk outside of his office 3 minutes from Wrigley Field and tell me the exact weather and wind conditions so that I can properly handicap the total for the Cubs game for that day.  I also have a lot of friends both in the NFL and in college football.  

As a young man, I had a lot of desire.  In 1988, I was a 19 year old boy.  I chose to attend Florida International where I became a walk-on starter (outside linebacker in case you are wondering) and began my collegiate career.  Unfortunately, shortly thereafter in my second season I severely fractured my ankle and could never regain my speed or agility on it.  I was forced to end my college football career.  After finishing my degree in political science, I decided I wanted to take a shot at something unusual, something different, something exciting...  I relocated and took a job coaching at a small high school in Fairfax, South Dakota.  After 6 years, I lead the team to back-to-back state championships.  I was then offered a job with a prominent University as an assistant coach.

In 1995, I went through a bitter divorce and left my coaching position.  I wasn't sure what I wanted to do.  But I did know that football was my love and I wanted to be involved in it in someway.  A friend of mine told me he thought I would do well analyzing and betting NFL and college football games because of my ability to breakdown the importance of each factor in any football game.  I began filling out office pool sheets for friends.  I would win 7-9 out of 17 of them a year with usually over 300 other people in them each week.  In 1996, I decided to begin handicapping professionally.  I did thousands of hours of research on every aspect of betting.  I learned about EV, reverse line movements, emotional factors, etc.  How much of a factor a running back averaging 3.4 yards per carry with an average of 19 carries per game being injured in a divisional match up would be.
